Premio Amadeus 2023

Art. 1 – The Accademia Amadeus, in cooperation with Comune di Lazise, announces the Third Edition of Amadeus Competition 2023, a contest dedicated to pianists coming from all over the world and of any nationality, which is structured into two sections:

  • 3rd International Amadeus Piano Competition 2023 (IAPC), divided into different categories, open to pianists born after 1998;

  • Premio Amadeus (PA) 2023, one category, open to pianists born after 1983.

The competition will take place from 22 to 26 March 2023 in Lazise (VR), Italy at Dogana Veneta (Piazzetta Partenio 13).

The organization has the right to make changes or integrations to the present regulation.

Art. 2 – The application implies the unconditioned acceptation of the present regulation. The candidate through the application authorises the Association Accademia Amadeus – according to art. 97 of the Law about the copyright – to make audio-visual recordings about someone’s performance and broadcast on all platforms of the Association or connected to it and to publish photos on promotional material of the Association or exhibit on occasion of future events. In relation to this the candidates cannot advance any right or financial reward to Accademia Amadeus.

According to the art. 13 and 14 of GDPR – Regulation UE 2016/679 about copyright – the data provided on the application will be used exclusively to send information about the Competition excluding any other use.

The organization declines any responsability for whatever damage to people and/or things of all kinds during the Competition.

Art. 3The Premio Amadeus 2023 is articulated into three solo stages:

Preliminary Round
Free program of max. 15 min., including one virtuoso etude chosen from those by F. Chopin, F. Liszt, C. Debussy, S. Rachmaninov, A. Scriabin, B. Bartok, S. Prokofiev, I. Stravinsky, G. Ligeti.

Semifinal Round (max. 12 candidates)
Free program between 20 and 25 min.

Final Round (3 candidates) in the form of recital
Free program between 35 and 40 min.

All performances must be from memory and it is not allowed to repeat pieces performed in the previous stages.

All pieces must be published. Facilitated versions of the pieces are not allowed.


The application fee of Premio Amadeus is € 100,00.

(the registration fee refers to payment by bank transfer; in case of payment by PayPal a commission is added)

In case of cancellation by the organization, whenever the number of applications is considered insufficient, the application fee will be reimbursed at 100%.

In case of cancellation by the candidate due to any reason not related to the pandemic (Covid-19), the application fee will not be reimbursed.

Art. 5 – All auditions are public and free.

Art. 6 – The contestants have to show a personal document (I.D. or passport) and a copy of the played program.

Art. 7 – The double application to the 3rd International Amadeus Piano Competition 2023 and Premio Amadeus 2023 is allowed.

The winner of Premio Amadeus of the previous editions cannot apply again.

The candidates who have or have had any constant teaching relationships with one or more members of the jury in the last two years prior to the start of the competition are not allowed to apply for the Amadeus Competition 2023.

Art. 8 – The prizegiving cerimony of the First Prize Assoluto winners of all categories, Premio Amadeus and the winner of Amadeus Competition 2023, selected by the jury among all winners, will take place on Sunday, March 26 at 5.30pm at Dogana Veneta in Lazise on occasion of the winners concert.

The non-participation to the winners concert implies the renunciation of the prize.

Art. 9The jury is made up of internationally acclaimed musicians.

The jury has the right to stop the performance so far as it exceeds the established time.

The jury has the right not to award prizes and scholarships to contestants who do not reach the required artistic level for that prize.

The jury’s judgement is unquestionable and irrevocable.

Art. 10 – The contestants will perform in alphabetical order starting from the letter drawn by lot, announced after the closing date of application.

The performance calendar will be published on the Competition website. Each contestant must get informed personally.

Art. 11 – The contestants have the possibility to try the piano of the competition according to the rehearsal schedule that will be published on the website a few days before the beginning of the Competition.

The organization will also provide practice spaces with digital pianos.

Art. 12 – All travel and accomodation expenses are at the contestants’ charge. A list of suggested hotels with discounted rates can be found on the Competition website.
